Rj Spicer Best In $23,600 Oneida County Quarter Horse Futurity
MALAD, CITY, ID–AUGUST 11, 2024–Second-fastest qualifier Rj Spicer was the best this afternoon after posting a neck win over Prize Winning Chicks in the $23,600 Oneida County Quarter Horse Futurity at the Oneida County Fairground.
Jockey Never Marian rode Rj Spicer to a 15.477, clocking for 300 yards, equaling a 97-speed index. The $9,440 winner's purse boosted his earnings total to $16,799.
Trainer Kylie Valenzuela conditions the Utah-bred son of champion sire The Louisiana Cartel for owner Jose Rico. William Nolan bred the three-time winner from the Walk Thru Fire mare Fearless Fire. Rj Spicer's only loss was a fifth-place effort in the Hadley/Giles Futurity in May.
Runner-up Prize Winning Chick flew late from the inside to earn $5,664 for second. Trainer Martin Vega named Oscar Villa to ride the Winners Version filly for owner-breeder Five Livestock Company LLC. Winless in four starts Prize Winning Chicks is out of the Spit Curl Jess mare Fast Prize Chicks.
Sheknowsshesmokn, a daughter of Daguerre, finished a head back in the blanket finish to take home $3,540 for third. Trainer Glen Jamison named jockey Jesus Flores to ride the Idaho-bred for owner-breeder Edward Jamison. Sheknowsshesmokn is out of Smokn Mirrors by Jumpn.
Eagle On Three, Jv Kat Dancer, Be Capricho, Bittons Knud, and Sheknowsshepunky completed the field.
