Rf Fast Dash N Blood Qualifies Fastest For $268,895 Laddie Futurity(RG2) at Delta Downs
VINTON, LA–MAY 3, 2025–Delta Downs hosted 11 trials for this year’s Louisiana Laddie Futurity on Saturday night. After the dust had settled, Jaime Cardenas’ Rf Fast Dash N Blood ($4.20) came away with the fastest clocking while winning the ninth race on the program.
On Saturday night, each trial carried a purse of $10,000, and the winners took home $6,000 each. The winner of the $268,895 final will bank $134,447.
Under jockey Victor Urieta, Jr., Rf Fast Dash N Blood burst from the gate in the 330-yard race and reported home in front while stopping the timer in 16.898 seconds. That time earned him a speed index of 89 on a "wet fast" racing surface.
The win by Rf Fast Dash N Blood was the first of his three-race career for trainer Miguel Castillo. He finished second in his trial for the $399,000 Mardi Gras Futurity (G2) at Louisiana Downs on March 8. He eventually finished fifth in the rich final on March 29.
Bred in Louisiana by Rogers Farm/Tim/Jennie Rogers, Rf Fast Dash N Blood is a 2-year-old bay gelding by champion sire Apollitical Blood, out of the Heza Fast Dash mare Fast Dash N Deb. He was purchased for $80,000 at the 2024 LQHBA Yearling Sale.
Rf Fast Dash N Blood is a half-brother to five black type, including last year's Lassie Futurity(RG2) winner Rf Fast Dash N Train.
Alejandro Sanchez, Jr.’s Joncades Fly By was a three-quarter length winner under jockey Ricardo Hernandez, Jr. in the trial 6 to post the second fastest clocking of 17.042 seconds, an 85 speed index on a "wet fast" racetrack. Leonel Hernandez conditions the son of multiple Grade 1 winner You Drive I Fly for owner Alejandro Sanchez, Jr.
A $24,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate, the royally-bred Joncades Fly By is out of Spit In My Corona by Spit Curl Jess, a sister to the dam of AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-Old Filly Dark Nme. The third dam is Heritage Place Futurity, winner Fast First Prize, and a sister to leading Louisiana Hall of Fame sire Heza Fast Dash.
