Relentless American Gets Seventh Career Victory In $199,872 OQHRA Mystery Futurity

CLAREMORE, OK–SEPTEMBER 23, 2024–Fifth fastest qualifier from the trials, Relentless American, scores his second stakes win this season in the $199,872 350-yard OQHRA Mystery Futurity at Will Rogers Downs on Monday.

Relentless American, piloted by Ramiro Garcia, broke from the gates in fourth, hitting his stride late at the final call for a neck victory over Herculez and Juan Pulido, who placed second. Shaken Goin On, ridden by Jimmy Brooks, followed by a head for a close third.

The son of leading sire Hes Relentless clocked a 92-speed index in 17.690 seconds, running into a five mph headwind. Relentless American's slight upset paid $10.20 to win on 4-1 odds. Herculez's second-place effort paid $20.60 to place, and Shaken Goin On was $9.00 to show.

The $80,448 payday boosted Relentless American's lifetime earnings to $166,445, and his race record improved to seven wins from eight starts. He won the Remington Park Juvenile Stakes in his second career start and later placed fourth in the Prairie Meadows Gold Futurity.

Shaken Goin On, the fastest qualifier from the trials, was outkicked, placing third. The daughter of Freighttrain B has lit the board in six of seven starts with three wins and $59,340 in the bank, including a third-place finish in the Easy Jet Stakes [G3].
