CLAREMORE, OK—October 18, 2026

Queen For Cash extended her reign in the Sequoyah Stakes (G3) to five consecutive years Sunday at Will Rogers Downs, drawing off by 8 1/2-lengths over her full sister Queen Blue in the $15,800 event for Paints and Appaloosas ages three and older.

Gary Vaughan bred and owns both sisters, who are by Hes Relentless, in Oklahoma. Queen For Cash and Queen Blue are out of Ivory Queen, by Ivory James. Jesus Ruben Ruiz trains them.

With Roman Cruz aboard, Queen For Cash covered 870 yards in :45.056 over a fast track, earning a 106 speed index while racing through an 8 mph crosswind. The overwhelming 1-20 favorite returned $2.10 to win.

Queen For Cash broke alertly and contested the early lead outside Queen Blue. The eight-year-old Appaloosa veteran gained separation over her three-year-old sister, entering the stretch and continuing to widen her advantage, drawing off in hand.

The victory marked Queen for Cash’s first stakes win since last year’s Sequoyah victory and brought her career stakes total to 13. She is the all-time leading Appaloosa mare by money earned and the $9,400 winner’s share increased her lifetime earnings to $253,525, with 19 wins, five seconds and seven thirds from 48 starts.

Queen For Cash entered Sunday’s race off a runner-up finish in the Henry Bowlan Memorial earlier this month. She also finished third in the Green Country Stakes (G3) in June and was a finalist in the Ray Graves Memorial Stakes (G1) and Paul Harber Memorial (G2) this season.

The accomplished mare’s résumé includes Appaloosa Horse Club championship honors and four Bronze Medallions. She was named the 2022 Appaloosa Horse of the Year and Champion Four-Year-Old and Older Mare.

Queen Blue held second by 1 3/4-lengths, completing a one-two finish for Vaughan and Ruiz. Gonzalo Gutierrez rode the three-year-old daughter of Hes Relentless, who earned $3,240 to increase her bankroll to $27,001.

Her record stands at one win, three seconds and two thirds from 13 starts. Still seeking her first stakes victory, she earned her second stakes placing Sunday after placing in the Cricket Bars Futurity during her juvenile campaign in 2025.

Turnpike Special D finished third under Osvaldo Quinonez-Lopez, earning his first black type placing. J. Sue Hunt bred and owns the four-year-old gelding by Painted Turnpike and also handles his training. Out of Eurodiamond Diva, by Euroears, he has earned $18,981 with two wins, one second and two thirds from 20 starts.

Kung Fu Express completed the order of finish. Valiant Anthem was scratched.
