Pick Your Pour Dominates $50,000 Jess Burner Stakes at Ruidoso Downs Sunday

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–JUNE 2, 2024–Pick Your Pour, a multiple stakes-winning son of leading New Mexico sire Jesse James Jr, raced to a four-length victory in Sunday's $50,000 Jess Burner Stakes at Ruidoso Downs.

Jockey Ali Rivera had the riding call for trainer JJ Gonzales III. The four-year-old gelding won for the sixth time in fourteen career starts and has earned approximately $350,000 for owners Orlando Granillo, Asucena Mendoza, and Rene Mendoza.

Pick Your Pour completed the 400-yard course in 19.805 seconds, equaling an 87-speed index into a 12 mph headwind. The $30,000 winner's purse boosted his bankroll to $349,261.

Bred by MJ Farms, Pick Your Pour is out of the mare Tangled Vines by Dash Ta Fame.

Just En King, a 4-year-old son of Eye Am King, finished second for owner-breeder Ronald Uilbarri. Trainer Tony Lello named jockey Alfredo Sigala to ride the gelding out of U R A Fury Lady by Furyofthewind. The multiple-graded winner has earned $307,073.

Denis and Julie Schoenhofer's White Lightenin finished third. Champion jockey Francisco Calderon rode the Eye Am King 4-year-old for trainer James J. Gonzales III. MJ Farms bred the stakes winner of $356,023 is from the First Down Dash daughter, champion Alice K White.

Cruzin For Chickz, Dos Special Eye, Doing Something Good, Jesses Wish, Chi Chi Jima Raider, Rc Corona King, and Warm Red Wine completed the official order of finish.
