Patty Wagon Train Parties To French Quarter Stakes VIctory
NEW ORLEANS, LA–SEPTEMBER 7, 2024–Patty Wagon Train, a 4-year-old daughter of multiple stakes winner Bp Wagon Train, raced to her first career stakes victory on Saturday when she won the $50,000 French Quarter Stakes for fillies and mares, at Fair Grounds Race Course.
Ridden by jockey Bobby Ransom, the brown filly took command early to complete the 330 yards in 15.590 seconds, equaling a 97-speed index into a 12 mph headwind on a muddy (sealed) racing surface.
Trainer Orlando Orozco saddled Patty Wagon Train to her seventh win in 21 career starts. The $30,000 payday boosted her earnings to $158,910. Steven P. Miller bred Patty Wagon Train from the Game Patriot mare Pattymegone.
No match for the winner, Apolitical Queen was much the best, finishing a length ahead of the field to earn $10,000 for second. Juan Garcia, Jr., had the riding all on the Apollitical Blood 3-year-old for owner-breeder Wilson One Consulting LLC and trainer David Bustamante. The Louisiana homebred earner of $77,860 is out of Dianas Queen Bee by Jess Louisiana Blue.
La Zoomin Cartel, under jockey Noe Castaneda, earned $4,400 for third. Adalberto Miranda trains the daughter of The Louisiana Cartel for owner Leobersi Perez. Terrazas Family bred La Zoomin Cartel in Texas from the Shazoom mare Zoomin War Princess.
Flying Feather, Miss Apolitical, Jm Texas Blood, One Sweet Rouge and Moonin Princess completed the field.
