Outlawsteff Gets Second Career Victory IN The Overnight Derby

MALAD, ID–AUGUST 10, 2024–Oneida County Fair seems to be Outlawsteff's lucky charm. The Gerald Richins-trained filly got her second career win at Oneida from five starts in the $5,500 Overnight Derby (not black type) on Saturday.

Jockey Jose Borbonio piloted Outlawsteff to a neck victory over post-time favorite Pappas Western Fame in :15.575 seconds for a 94 speed index. The daughter of Racy Casanova's 300-yard upset paid $17.20 to win.

Post-time favorite Pappas Western Fame, ridden by Never Marin, crossed the wire a length ahead of Ps Rocky Mountain and rider Goel Cruz, who placed third. Slam Diego was fourth, with Snobird completing the order of finish in fifth.

Kim Paulsen owns and bred Outlawsteff in Wyoming out of the Dashair mare Outlaw Bullet. The three-year-old filly broke her maiden at Oneida last year, and today's $3,300 victory boosted her lifetime earnings to $6,670.

Kylie Valenzuela saddled Pappas Western Fame for owners Kimberly Raedel and Gordon Knudsen. The son of Pappasito was bred in Wyoming by Ron and Laurie Moosman. The three-time winner out of A Western Leader by Special Leader has earned $22,365.

Multiple Winner Ps Rocky Mountain was bred by Eg High Desert Farms in California out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Ms Southern Perry. The Alvin Torres trained gelding has earned $8,095 for owner P and S Syndicate LLC. He is a $16,000 Los Alamitos Equine Sale graduate sired by Fast Prize Cartel.
