One Real Boss Breaks Maiden At First Asking, Sets Top Mark In Sale Stakes Futurity

EDMONTON, ALB—JUNE 7, 2024—One Real Boss broke his maiden at first asking Friday evening while setting the fastest qualifying time for the Stallion Stakes Futurity at Century Mile Racetrack.

The 10 fastest horses from two trials contested today will return to Century Mile on Thursday, June 22nd, to vie for the winner's share of the $48,835 (CAN) purse going a distance of 300 yards.

Ricardo Moreno rode One Real Boss to the fastest clocking of 15.526 seconds, a 99-speed index with a 45 mph tailwind. She earned $3,489(US) for the effort. One Real Boss, a $15,500 AQHRA Canada QH Cup Yearling Sale graduate, defeated second fastest qualifier Ima Hott Version by half-a-length.

Trainer William Leech conditions the son of multiple stakes sire JD Wagon Boss for owner Jerry Stojan. Charles Stojan bred the gray filly from the Walk Thru Fire mare Clear To See.

Fresh off two starts in the States, Ima Runnin Rose broke her maiden in an impressive fashion in the opening trial to get the third-fastest clocking. Ridden by jockey Daniel Garcia, Ima Runnin Rose broke sharp and was unchallenged as she posted a 1-1/2 length victory in 15.661 seconds, a 95 speed index with a 45 mph tailwind.

Trainer Wesley Oulton saddled the bay filly to her first career win in three starts for owner Jeffrey Rath. Ima Runnin Rose was a $6,000 repurchase at last year's AQHRA Canada QH Cup Yearling Sale. Westly and Susan Olton bred the $4,350(US) earner from the Streakin La Jolla are Ima Jess A Streaker.

Sires First Timber and JD Wagon Boss got three finalists each.
