Oklahoma Bred Willie Lump Wins Late Bloomer Maiden Stakes at Century Downs

ROCK VIEW COUNTY, ALB–OCTOBER 13, 2024–Oklahoma-bed Willie Lump Lump got his first career win on Sunday when he surged under jockey Ricardo Moreno to win the $17,370(CAN) Late Bloomer Maiden Stakes (not black type) by a head at Century Downs.

Willie Lump Lump completed the 350-yard task in 18.374 seconds into a 15 mph headwind to pick up the winner's purse valued at $9,144(US).

Misael Moreno conditions the 3-year-old son of multiple stakes sire Big Lew for owner Isaak Fehr. Bred by Kelly Yother Equine LLC, from the Country Quick Dash mare Valdarama, Willie Lump Lump has compiled a (10) 1-2-3 record.

Second in the Alex Picov Memorial Futurity and third in the QROOI Bonus Futurity at 2, Willie Lump Lump has earned $28,152.

Post-time favorite Springeleer finished a neck back in the photo finish to earn $2,053(US) for third. The graded stakes-placed son of multiple stakes sire Duponte races for owner-breeder and trainer Wesley Oulton. Alejandro Garcia had the riding assignment aboard the 4-year-old filly out of First Sassy Timber by First Timber. He has earned $34,707 in 22 starts.

Stayin On Corona, Hi Hopes, Hija Del Huesos, and Montana Chick completed the field.
