Ojd Tempt Me Not Dominates $300,000 Sweetwater Downs QH Futurity

Ojd Tempt Me Not continued his outstanding 2-year-old campaign Saturday when he powered to a one-length victory in the $300,000 Sweetwater Downs QH Futurity at Sweetwater Downs.

Sent off as the 7-10 favorite, Ojd Tempt Me Not was much the best in the 350-yard final, stopping the timer in :17.160, good for a 104 speed index over a fast track. A 10-mph crosswind was reported for the race.

Leading jockey Nestor Duran rode the chestnut gelding for trainer/trainer Oscar Diaz and owner Karla Diaz Gomez. Ojd Tempt Me Not earned $120,000 for the victory, increasing his career earnings to $281,324.

Bred in Idaho by his owners, Ojd Tempt Me Not is a son of champion Tempting Dash from the Favorite Cartel mare Ojd One Favorite Jj. The victory improved his record to six wins and one second from seven starts. His stakes résumé includes victories in the Governors Cup Futurity, Idaho Cup Futurity and now the Sweetwater Downs QH Futurity.

Dulces Fire Z finished second, one length behind the winner, and earned $60,000 for Buckway Ranch LLC. Edwin G. Escobedo rode the gelding for trainer Joe M. Davis.

Bred by T & M Dinwiddie Racing, Dulces Fire Z is by leading second-crop sire Dulce Sin Tacha from Fires Relentless, by Hes Relentless. Buckway Ranch LLC purchased him for $53,000 at the 2025 Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

Saturday's runner-up finish increased Dulces Fire Z's career record to two wins, two seconds and one third from six starts, with earnings of $98,469. In addition to his runner-up finish in the Sweetwater Downs QH Futurity, he was a finalist in the Governors Cup Futurity.

A neck behind Dulces Fire Z, Dulce Creek Senator finished third and collected $30,000 for owner McGehee Horse and Cattle LLC. Bryan Candanosa rode the filly for trainer Joe M. Davis.

Wootan Racing bred Dulce Creek Senator, a daughter of Dulce Sin Tacha from the Louisiana Senator mare Miss Famous Senator. McGehee Horse and Cattle LLC purchased the filly for $38,000 at the 2025 Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

The third-place finish pushed Dulce Creek Senator's career record to two wins, one second and one third from six starts, with earnings of $51,331.

Also-rans: Norka finished fourth, another half-length back, followed by Sp Sinful Saint, Monster Amigo, Cgr Winnr Wonderland and Sweet Aj. Kash Kowboyy and Manik Monday were scratched by the stewards.

The Sweetwater Downs QH Futurity was contested at 350 yards for 2-year-olds who qualified through trials held August 29-30.
