Ojd Jess A Bug Remains Perfect 6-for-6, Wins $150,500 Sweetwater Downs QH Futurity
ROCK SPRINGS, WY–SEPTEMBER 7, 2024–Ojd Jess A Bug wouldn't be denied as he kept his race record a perfect 6-for-6, following a stunning 2-1/2 length victory in the $150,500 Sweetwater Downs QH Futurity at Sweetwater Downs today.
Ridden by jockey Jorge Garcia, Ojd Jess A Bug went wire-to-wire in 17.233 seconds, equaling a 103-speed index for 350 yards. It was the third futurity win for the son of multiple stakes sire One Sweet Jess this year.
Trainer Javier Fuentes conditions the Idaho homebred for owner-breeders Karla Diaz Gomez and Oscar Diaz. The bay gelding has won six races by 8-3/4 lengths, and the Sweetwater winner's purse, valued at $60,200, boosted his earnings to $137,515.
He is bred from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Bugs Wagon, a half-sister to five black type including Grade 3 winner Jls Party Wagon and stakes winner Ms Pilot Point, the dam of All American Futurity(G1) winner Mr Piloto.
Ojd Jess A Bug broke his maiden at first asking last Spring in the Hadley-Giles Futurity trials, then returned to win the final on May 19.
He won his Bitterroot trial before scoring a two-length victory in the Grade 3 $100,000 Bitterroot Futurity final on July 26. Ojd Jess A Bug was the fastest qualifier for the Sweetwater Downs QH Futurity on August 24.
Runner-up Mysterious Cartel put in a late effort under jockey Cesar Moreno to earn $30,100 for second. Abelardo Gonzalez trains the multiple stakes-placed son of Five Bar Cartel for owner Luis Gonzalez.
Jude and Ryan Robicheaux and Spanish Miss QH bred the colt in Texas from the Valiant Hero mare Mysterious Night. He has earned $39,035 in six starts.
Goodrich Quarter Horses homebred Gh Fabulous Version finished half-a-length back to earn $15,050 for third. Scott Goodrich conditions the One Fabulous Eagle gelding out of Ggwinning Flo by Winners Version. The Utah-bred is earned $26,199 in seven starts this year.
Heza Flashy Eagle, Rj Spicer, Divory, Lights Out Riggy, Absolut Cartel, Luv Ya, and Bad Leroy Brown completed the field.
