Nine One Won Captures $57,000 Dr. Glenn Blodgett Stakes at Lone Star Park

Nine One Won added another stakes victory to his résumé Saturday night when the 4-year-old gelding powered to a three-quarter-length victory in the $57,000 Dr. Glenn Blodgett Stakes [R] for accredited Texas-bred 3-year-olds and older at Lone Star Park.

Ridden by Oliver E. Martinez for trainer Raul Ramirez, Nine One Won stumbled at the start but quickly recovered, took command and drew clear to complete the 350 yards in :17.601, earning a 93 speed index. The race was contested over a fast track into a 12-mph headwind.

Nine One Won earned $34,770 for owner Jimenas Ranch, boosting his career earnings to $256,432. The sorrel son of champion Tempting Dash has compiled a record of seven wins, five seconds and 12 thirds from 32 starts.

His résumé includes the Dr. Glenn Blodgett Stakes, along with runner-up efforts in the Dash For Cash Derby (G2) and Retama Park Derby and a third-place finish in the Heritage Place Derby (G2). He was also third in the TQHA Classic Stakes (RG2) and a finalist in the Texas Classic Derby (G1).

Bred in Texas by Cindi M. Keeton, Nine One Won is out of the Jody O Toole mare Not My Choice. Jimenas Ranch is the owner and Raul Ramirez as trainer.

Baby Ruth finished three-quarters of a length behind the winner in second and earned $9,690 for owner Mi Serenity. The 4-year-old daughter of champion sire Jess Good Candy was ridden by Raul Ramirez Jr. for trainer Marc E. Jungers. She was bred by Bobby Simmons and is out of Jess A Cartel, by Corona Cartel. Baby Ruth was a $40,000 purchase at the 2023 Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

The runner-up effort increased Baby Ruth's career earnings to $182,186 from 20 starts, with seven wins and five seconds. Her stakes record includes victories in the Speedhorse Derby and TQHA Stakes, along with runner-up finishes in the Oklahoma Derby (G3), Decketta Stakes (G2) and Dr. Glenn Blodgett Stakes.

Ruse Dynasty 123 finished a head behind Baby Ruth in third, earning $5,700 for owner Debra M. Gotovac. Francisco Giles rode the 5-year-old mare for trainer Bradley C. Bolen. The Texas-bred daughter of five-time world champion sire FDD Dynasty is out of Tresor 123, by Tres Seis, and was bred by Carolyn C. Bay. She sold for $38,000 at the 2022 TQHA Yearling Sale.

With Saturday's effort, Ruse Dynasty 123 increased her career record to 19 starts with seven wins, two seconds, and two thirds and earnings of $111,082. She finished one-half length ahead of fourth-place finisher Sign of A Jet.

Also-rans were Sign of a Jet, Bludz Valiant Policy, Trixiee, and Jess Louisiana Girl.
