Mysterious Blues Tops Day 2 WABRA Wyoming Bred Futurity Trials

Mysterious Blues turned in a powerful effort Sunday at Sweetwater Downs, posting the fastest qualifying time from the second day of trials for the $100,000-added WABRA Wyoming Bred Quarter Horse Futurity.
Five 330-yard trials for accredited Wyoming-bred 2-year-olds were contested Sunday to determine five finalists who will advance to the September 26 final. Five additional finalists were determined from Saturday's opening day of trials (see related story).
Mysterious Blues delivered the fastest performance of the weekend when she won the third trial by one length in :16.433. The gray filly dueled early before drawing clear under jockey Jacob Cardenas.
Owned by Leeanne A. Christensen and trained by Ryan F. Christensen, Mysterious Blues was bred in Wyoming by Gary Laramie. The daughter of Mister Moody Blue is out of Unbridled Mystery, by Bridlewood.
Sunday's victory was the second win in five career starts for Mysterious Blues, who has also finished second twice while earning $15,920.
Miss Junior Cartel produced Sunday's second-fastest qualifying time while finishing second to Mysterious Blues in the third trial. The daughter of Junior June Bug stopped the timer in :16.606 after making a late run under jockey Juan Carlos Rivas.
Raichel Hinckley owns and bred the filly, who is trained by Diana Garfias. Miss Junior Cartel is out of Pappas Special Girl, by Pappasito. She has won once and finished second once in three career starts while earning $9,500.
Jlm Maggieslastdance posted the third-fastest time of the day when he captured the fourth trial by one-half length in :16.612. The sorrel gelding dueled before edging clear with Cardenas aboard for his second qualifying mount among Sunday's three fastest.
Lana Matt owns Jlm Maggieslastdance, and Jess R. Matt trains the son of multiple stakes sire Eagle Deluxe. Walter Larson bred the gelding in Wyoming from Rambling Maggie, by The Down Side.
Jlm Maggieslastdance has compiled an impressive record of three wins and two seconds from six career starts with earnings of $65,383. His previous accomplishments include a runner-up finish in the Ron Cook Accredited Wyoming Bred Futurity, and he was also a finalist in the 307 Horse Racing Wyoming Bred Futurity.
Rounding out Sunday's five qualifiers were Lil Pollys Train, who finished third in the third trial in :16.643, and Acquittedd, winner of the opening trial in :16.659. Acquittedd won his trial by one-half length.
Today's five qualifiers will join Saturday's five qualifiers—Living The Dreamm (:16.528), Dashn Steffie (:16.532), CG A Moody Willow (:16.753), Chilled Coronas (:16.760) and Mario Cartell (:16.783)—in the $100,000-added WABRA Wyoming Bred Quarter Horse Futurity final on September 26.
