Mrs Pyc Painted Nova Tops Colors Of The Alamo Paint & Appaloosa Futurity Trials

SELMA, TX—JULY 31, 2025—Mrs Pyc Painted Nova posted the fastest qualifying time Thursday evening at Retama Park to lead the field into the $40,000-added Colors of the Alamo Paint & Appaloosa Futurity finals, which will be run Saturday, August 16, at 350 yards for 2-year-old Paints and Appaloosas.
Bred in Texas by Michael and Maci Read, Mrs Pyc Painted Nova broke sharply in the final trial and surged clear to win by three-quarters of a length, stopping the timer in 18.155.
The sorrel filly is by Little Pyc out of Get Down Jessie, by Get Down Perry. Owned by Michael Read and trained by Randall R. Read, she was ridden to the top qualifying mark by Ali Rivera, impressing with a dominant gate-to-wire performance.
A winner of three of seven starts, Mrs Pyc Paint Nova was third in the Colours Of Houston Futurity in June. She has earned $22,911.
The second-fastest qualifier honors went to Sinnin Hot Pepper, who captured the second trial in 18.241 for owner and breeder Rene Rodriguez of Texas. The sorrel colt is by second-crop Quarter Horse sire Chilitos out of Sinnin Bill, by Pf Lucky Billy.
Trained by Angel Sanchez and piloted by Eddie Sanchez, he drove to a 1½-length victory under confident handling.
The third-fastest qualifier emerged from the final trial, as Miss Nely chased the top qualifier home to earn her spot in the gate with a clocking of 18.284. The bay filly, a $10,000 2024 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate, is also by Chilitos out of Shakair, by Dashair.
She is owned by Omar Paredes, bred in Texas by Edgar Saul Rosales, trained by Manuel Roman, and ridden by Eliazar T. Vera.
