OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–MAY 3, 2025–Remington Park proves to be just as successful for Mr Michel as Horseshoe Indianapolis. The six-year-old gelding remains undefeated in 2025, earning his second stakes victory at the Oklahoma track in the $100,880 Leo Stakes [G1] on Saturday.

Jockey Juan Pulido got the riding call to mount Mr Michel. Despite having no traction at the gate, the duo picked up speed, taking the lead at the final stretch for a 1/2-length victory over Shakers No Secret.

Mr Michel clocked a 104 speed index with a six mph crosswind. The 550-yard winning effort paid $3.80 on the post-time favorite.

“We had a little bit of trouble out of the gates, but he’s an amazing horse. He made the distance,” said Pulido. “At about the 70 or 100 yards, we started passing the other horses, but I felt confident once we hit the wire.”

Mr Michel is no stranger to winning. He has lit the board 21 of 27 starts with 15 trips to the winner’s circle. Today’s victory marks the tenth career stakes win for the son of Kiss My Hocks, and the $57,000 payday boosted his lifetime earnings to $818,300.

“His problem was leaving the gates. Today he stumbled and I got a little scared, but I knew he had it in him with the distance,” said Alcala.

Until this year, Mr Michel ran his career solely at Horseshoe Indianapolis, earning eight of his ten stakes wins at the Indiana track. In March, he won the other two at Remington Park, including the SLM Big Daddy Stakes [G2].

Mark Michel bred Mr Michel in Indiana out of the Likenothinyoueversaw mare Lovemelikethat. He was a $17,500 QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Sale graduate in 2020 and a $200,000 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale repurchase just this year.

Shakers No Secret, ridden by Christian Ramos, fought hard but placed second at the finish. The son of Five Bar Cartel has a record of 10-7-4 from 30 starts with $691,164 in the bank. He is a three-time graded stakes winner, including the Championship at Sunland Park Stakes [G1] this year.

Trainer Marc Jungers saddled Shakers No Secret for owners Abel Lopez, Ethan Lopez, and Manny Dutchover, who purchased him for $14,000 in the Heritage Place Yearling Sale. The five-year-old gelding was bred in Texas by Garly O Shelton out of Shaker Secret by No Secrets Here.

Jockey Justine Klaiber guided Unrelentless to his third-place finish on Saturday. The three-time stakes-winning son of Hes Relentless has lit the board 13 of 19 starts with seven wins and $423,202 in earnings, including the Brad McKinzie Winter Championship Stakes [G1] this year.

Flag Ranch bred Unrelentless in Oklahoma out of the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Pained Wine Wagon. Trainer Kevin Willis conditions the four-year-old colt for owner Reliance Ranches LLC, who purchased him for $200,000 at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

Ab Boogie, Hes A Jet One, Rgs Gold Wagon, Cardiac Cowboy, Shy Kisser, Nothin Like You and Mystic Paint complete the field of powerhouses.
