Moneys Right Rallies To Capture $50,000 Treme Derby At Delta Downs

Moneys Right delivered a strong late rally Saturday night to capture the $50,000 Treme Derby for accredited Louisiana-bred 3-year-olds at Delta Downs.

With Victor Manuel Urieta Jr. aboard, the 3-year-old gelding rallied from fourth early approaching the finish before getting up to win by a half-length. Moneys Right completed the 350 yards in :17.557, earning a 98 speed index over a fast racing surface. The race was contested with no wind.

Trained by Oswaldo Hernandez for LA Racing Stables LLC, Moneys Right earned the $30,000 winner's share of the purse, increasing his career earnings to $130,172. His record now stands at five wins, two seconds and two thirds from 12 starts.

Ryan and Danielle Robicheaux bred the sorrel gelding in Louisiana from champion Five Bar Cartel and the Tres Seis mare Remember Robyn. LA Racing Stables LLC purchased Moneys Right for $51,000 at the 2026 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale.

His previous accomplishments include a third-place finish in the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile (RG2) and a finalist berth in the LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1). The chart confirms his breeder, owner and trainer.

Lrh Henry T surged late to secure second by a neck for jockey Bobby Ransom and earned $10,000. Trained by Trey Ellis, the gelding by world champion sire Freighttrain B races for Jetty Lemaire, Donald Lemaire and Doback Racing LLC. Jetty and Donald Lemaire bred Lrh Henry T from the Apollitical Blood mare Lrh La Woman. A five-time winner, he exited the Treme Derby with earnings of $110,867 and previous finalist appearances in the LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity (RG1), Big Easy Futurity and Mardi Gras Derby.

Mucho Man Train B finished another head back in third after showing early speed under jockey Jose Ariel Rodriguez. The Kenneth L. Roberts Sr. trainee earned $5,500 for J.J. Racing. Bred by Ruse Ranch LLC, the gelding is by Kj Mucho Macho Man from the Freighttrain B mare Rio Rojo Train B. J.J. Racing purchased him for $35,000 at the 2024 LQHBA Yearling Sale.

The third-place check increased Mucho Man Train B's career earnings to $86,281. His record now stands at one win, five seconds and five thirds from 13 starts. He was previously third in the Mardi Gras Derby and Louisiana Juvenile Stakes and was a finalist in the LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity (RG1).

Completing the field were Jrs Jeeses Cartel, Stay in the Fastlane and A Desperate Eagle. Jrs Jeeses Cartel made an early bid before weakening, Stay in the Fastlane encountered tight quarters late and steadied slightly, and A Desperate Eagle was never a factor.
