Mo Different Advice Holds On To Win Elko Intermountain Futurity Consolation

Mo Different Advice broke sharply and held off a determined Secretofthe Mountain by a neck Monday afternoon to win the $7,000 Elko Intermountain Futurity Consolation (not black type) at the Elko County Fair.

The non-Black Type consolation, for 2-year-olds who were nominated and failed to qualify for the futurity final, was contested at 350 yards over a fast racing surface. Mo Different Advice completed the distance in :17.979, earning a 90 speed index with a 5 mph crosswind. The victory was worth $4,110.

Mo Different Advice broke best from post three and maintained his advantage to the wire, defeating Secretofthe Mountain by a neck. Secretofthe Mountain finished a nose in front of Cyberx for second.

Guillermo Fregoso owns Mo Different Advice, a 2-year-old sorrel gelding by Jess Different from the Best Advice mare Mo Famous Advice. Cameron or Leanne Mulrony bred the Idaho-bred gelding. Ramiro Fregoso trains the winner, who was ridden by Mauro Rodriguez.

Mo Different Advice broke his maiden in the race to add to his two seconds and a third from nine starts with earnings of $7,770. He previously finished fourth in the Bitterroot Futurity Consolation.

Secretofthe Mountain earned $1,370 for her runner-up effort. The daughter of multiple stakes sire Jr Dynasty Mountain is out of Sheza Vital Secret, by We Have A Secret. Larry K. and Joyce Mower bred and own the 2-year-old filly, who is trained by Joe Hadley and was ridden by Jayden R. Ironeyes.

With Monday's result added to her previous statistics, Secretofthe Mountain has won one of six starts with one second and one third and earnings of $6,947. She won the Beehive Futurity Consolation earlier this season and was a finalist in the Bitterroot Futurity.

Cyberx, the 8-5 favorite, earned $685 for finishing third. The 2-year-old gelding is by leading second-crop sire Cyber Monday from the Eyesa Special mare Echoes Of Angels. Gene Schindler bred Cyberx, who is owned and trained by Cresencio Ortiz. Carlos Castruita had the riding assignment. A $15,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate, Cyberx previously finished fourth in the Oneida County QH Futurity.

Hott Smartie, Flashin D Cartel, Okey Mountain Legend, and Bg Flying Hero completed the order of finish.
