Makin Chicks Move Redeems Herself With A Victory In The $4,750 Maiden Frolic Stakes
BURLEY, ID–AUGUST 17, 2024–Coming off of a last-place finish in the Oneida County Mixed Breed Derby last week, Makin Chicks Move redeems herself with a trip to the winner's circle in the $4,750 Maiden Frolic Stakes at Cassia County Fair on Saturday.
Makin Chicks Move actually broke her maiden in the Oneida County Derby trials. Today's victory is her second from 12 starts, and the $2,850 winner's share increased her bankroll to $10,438.
With jockey Oscar Villa in the irons, Makin Chicks Move flew from the gates and led the field wire-to-wire, defeating Gw Captain Kellee and Jose Borbonio by a length. The post-time favorite clocked a 101 speed index in 13.218 seconds with a 13 mph tailwind. The 250-yard victory paid $4.60 to win on 2-1 odds.
Trainer Martin Vega saddled Makin Chicks Move for owner-breeder Five Livestock Company LLC. The daughter of Maknmove is out of First Prize Chicks by Spit Curl Jess.
Runner-up Gw Captain Kellee is bred and owned by Gil Wright and out of Captain Tsu by Captain Courage. The daughter of Bf Farm Boss broke her maiden at Oneida County Fair in July and has $4,533 in earnings. Glen Jamison trains the bay filly.
Mz Paquita placed third under the guidance of jockey Jesus Flores. Trainer Alejandro Tellez conditions the winning daughter of El Damazo for owner Agap Martinez. The chestnut filly out of Asian Dawn by Rock Solid Jess has $7,084 in earnings.
Bnb Docs Highestcard, My Bets On Jet, and One Painted Road complete the order of finish.
