Maher Gets The Trifecta With Third Stakes Win Of The Night With I D Claire

SHAKOPEE, MN–AUGUST 15, 2024–Owner Tom Maher hit the trifecta twice Thursday evening. He got the 1-2-3 in the $15,000 Northlands Juvenile and also won all three stakes at Canterbury Park this evening, including the Canterbury Park Derby and Northlands Futurity.

Tenth fastest qualifier from the trials, I D Claire pulls off the win in the Northlands Juvenile by 1/2 a length over stablemate Relentless Deal and jockey Angel Ramirez. Rr Runnin Jesse, piloted by Armando Alvidrez, placed third.

Eugenio Navarrette, Jr. qualified I D Claire in the trials but chose to ride Moonlyte Dynasty in the finals, so Jorge Torres got the leg up aboard the sorrel filly. The daughter of leading freshman sire Uncle D won the 350-yard stakes in 18.285 seconds, which paid $7.00 on 5-2 odds.

The $9,000 winner's share of the purse increased I D Claire's bankroll to $22,155. Trained by Tyler Stein, the sorrel filly got her second victory from five starts.

Maher bought I D Claire for $7,700 from breeders Renee Wilson and Clint Crawford In the 2023 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale. The Oklahoma-bred filly is out of No Luchenbach by One Famous Eagle.

Stein also saddled runner-up Relentless Deal, who has yet to break his maiden from five starts with $6,159 in earnings. The Maher homebred is sired by Hes Relentless and out of Game Dealin Lady by Dealagame.

Leading trainer Jason Olmstead saddled third-place finisher Rr Runnin Jesse. The daughter of Favorite Cartel was bred in Oklahoma out of Jess Envision by Apollitical Jess.

Anu Episode Of Fire, Docs Best Dancer, Coronado Dreamer, and Moonlyte Dynasty complete the field. Dashing Avery, Jess Walking Thewire, and Shes Hell Bent were scratched.
