M E Candy Cartel Elevated To Idaho Bred Futurity Victory

M E Candy Cartel earned her first career stakes victory Sunday after a disqualification moved the 2-year-old filly into the winner's circle in the $4,500 Idaho Bred Quarter Horse Futurity at Blackfoot.

M E Candy Cartel finished second across the wire in the 350-yard event, a neck behind 3-10 favorite Bw Stuff Got Easier. However, Bw Stuff Got Easier drifted out and bothered a rival before being disqualified from first and placed third, elevating M E Candy Cartel to the victory.

Breaking from post four under jockey Brayan Juarez, M E Candy Cartel was third away before making a late run. She covered the distance in :18.172 seconds for an 85 speed index with a 15 mph crosswind. Sent off at 5-1, she returned $12.00 to win and collected the $2,475 winner's share of the purse.

The victory was the second from six career starts for M E Candy Cartel. She was a finalist in both the Bitterroot Futurity Consolation and Idaho Cup Futurity Consolation earlier this season.

M E Ec Money was elevated to second after finishing 1 1/4-length behind M E Candy Cartel. The daughter of Ec Jet One was bothered by a rival during the race and completed the 350 yards in :18.362 under jockey Jesus Flores.

Jose Pulido trains M E Ec Money for owner Martin Gomez. Bred in Idaho by David B. Merritt, the filly is out of Dilligass, by A Regal Choice. She has a record of one win and two seconds from eight starts and was a finalist in the Oneida County Fair Futurity last month.

Bw Stuff Got Easier crossed the wire first by a neck before being disqualified and placed third. Ridden by Nakia Teeter, the daughter of Jess Got Easier is trained by Guy Weeks for owners/breeders Betty Weeks and Boyd.

Bw Stuff Got Easier is out of Bw de Stuff, by The Flight Stuff. She has finished in the top three in four of five starts and was fourth in the Idaho Cup Futurity Consolation earlier this year.

Tres Patas Blancas and L Special Cowboy completed the order of finish.
