Luv Ya Gets Remains Undefeated And Sets Time To Beat In Bitterroot Futurity Trials
POCATELLO, ID–JULY 12, 2024–38 juveniles vied from five trials Friday night to return for a spot on July 26th in the finals of the $75,000-estimated Bitterroot Futurity [RG3] at Pocatello Downs. Luv Ya came out on top as the fastest qualifier from trial two and remains undefeated.
With regular rider Jesus Canales in the irons, Luv Ya led the field of seven from gate to wire, winning her trial heat by an impressive 2 1/4-lengths. The daughter of Docs Best Card clocked a 93 speed index in :17.740 seconds, setting the time to beat against a 13 mph crosswind. The 350-yard victory paid $5.80 to win on 5/2 odds.
Trained by Sergio Canales, Luv Ya has won every out from three starts with $22,888 in the bank, including the Idaho Cup Futurity in May. The bay filly owned by Cody Allred and Keller Livestock was bred in Idaho by Allreds Horse Haven out of Shi D Anna by Proudest Effort.
Three of the four two-year-olds who entered the trials have previously won a stakes race this season. The fastest qualifier, Luv Ya, won her stakes at Pocatello Downs in May; the second fastest, Ojd Jess A Bug, won the Hadley/Giles Futurity at Weber Downs; and the fourth fastest, Notin Missing Here, won the Pocatello Downs Spring Classic Futurity.
Second fastest qualifier Ojd Jess A Bug, ridden by Cristian Aguirre-Erives, had a solid wire-to-wire finish by 3/4-lengths over Ruff An Rowdy, who clocked the third fastest time. Ojd Jess A Bug crossed the wire in :17.756 seconds with a 92 speed index. The post-time favorite's victory paid $2.80 to win.
Karla and Oscar Diaz bred and own Ojd Jess A Bug in Idaho out of Bugs Wagon by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. He also remains undefeated from three starts and has $35,315 in career earnings. Pedro Robles trains the son of One Sweeet Jess.
Ralph and Carrie Fales of Arizona bred and own third fastest qualifier Ruff An Rowdy, who has yet to break his maiden. Sergio Canales saddled jockey Julio De La Torre aboard the son of Tell Cartel. He is out of Macy Bay by Strawflyin Buds.
Trainer Sergio Canales also conditions Notin Missing Here with Jesus Canales in the saddle for owner Michael Mckell. The daughter of Kvn Corona has won her last three of five starts with $20,205 in the bank. McColle Land and Livestock LLC bred the $15,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate in Utah out of Missmerizing by Pyc Paint Your Wagon.
