Late Win For Jess A Dash Of Class Who Scores First Stakes Victory In WABRA Wyoming Bred QH Futurity

ROCK SPRINGS, WY–SEPTEMBER 28, 2024–Jockey Jesus Valenzuela gets his second stakes win of the evening aboard Jess A Dash Of Class, who flew in late for a surprise victory in the $133,500 WABRA Wyoming Bred Quarter Horse Futurity at Sweetwater Downs on Saturday.

It was a photo finish at the wire with the four top finishers crossing the finish line within a neck of each other.

Jess A Dash Of Class broke late from the gates but came up good at the wire for a head victory over De Nasty and jockey Cesar Morena. A Dash Of Steffie, who had speed early on, was caught at the wire for third, and Outlaw Jess, with Guillermo Suarez aboard, followed in for fourth.

With 7-2 odds at post-time, Jess A Dash Of Class' 350-yard finish paid $9.80 to win. The daughter of Jess Paint Me clocked a 98-speed index in 15.452 seconds.

Trained by Kylie Valenzuela, the $53,400 winner's share of the purse increased Jess A Dash Of Class' earnings to $83,000, and the victory improved her record to four wins and two thirds from seven starts.

Trainer Abelardo Gonzalez owns and bred runner-up De Nasty in partnership with Steve Berry. The three-time winning daughter of Glock placed third in the Ron Cook Wyoming Bred Futurity and has over $21,000 in earnings. She is out of Ashleys Dynasty by FDD Dynasty.

Trainer Tony Hyde saddled third-place finisher A Dash Of Steffie, who has lit the board every out from seven starts with three wins and $42,075 in the bank. She placed second in the Ron Cook Wyoming Bred Futurity.
