Kool Kisses plants one on in $34,000 Leader of the Class Sale Overnight Stakes at Horseshoe Indianapolis

Kool Kisses and Eduardo Luna Diaz dominated in the only Quarter Horse race of the program to close out the Patriots Day racing card Friday, September 11 at Horseshoe Indianapolis. The duo led from gate to wire for the win in :17.933 over the 350-yard dash.

Kool Kisses came out of the gate from post eight and was in control from the start. Fabulous Freddie and L. Daniel Martinez were maintaining ground along the inside with HH Bluemoonovrkntuky and Antonio Rodriguez from the center of the track.

As the finish line came into focus, Kool Kisses was well in command, striding out to a one-length advantage at the wire over Fabulous Freddie. Marys Tacha and Giovani Vazquez Gomez finished third.

Kool Kisses was the favorite of the field, paying $4.40 for the win. The freshman son of Kiss My Hocks was bred in Oklahoma by Steve Mullins. Rose Bode of Columbus, Ind. now owns the gelding, who is trained by Tim Eggleston.

Diaz currently leads the Quarter Horse jockey standings while Eggleston has a firm hold on the top spot in the Quarter Horse trainer’s standings. Both are defending champs for their respective divisions.

For Kool Kisses, it was his second straight victory and his first in stakes action. He is now two for five in his young career more than doubling his bankroll to nearly $35,000 in the process.

For Rose Bode and her husband, Keith, it was a nice victory to add to their credentials. They have owned several stakes winners in recent years in Indiana and have raised several stakes winners from their small breeding operation. One of Rose’s standout performers in recent years is Fire the Cartel, a winner of the QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Derby in 2021.

Fabulous Freddie turned in an even effort to finish second, 1 3/4 lengths behind Kool Kisses, earning $7,160 for owner-trainer Anthony F. Cunningham. Luz Daniel Martinez rode the 2-year-old gelding by One Fabulous Eagle out of Copas Cartel, by Carters Cartel. Bred by Pamela Brickley Hann, Fabulous Freddie was an $4,300 RNA at the 2025 QHRAI Speed Sale.

Marys Tacha finished another neck back in third and earned $3,580 for owner R Chavez Racing, LLC and trainer Jessica A. Vazquez. Giovani Vazquez-Gomez rode the 2-year-old daughter of Dulce Sin Tacha out of Marys Eagle, by One Famous Eagle. Bred by Valley Farm, Marys Tacha was a $15,000 RNA at the 2025 QHRAI Speed Sale. The official chart described her effort as "best of the rest."

Also-rans were Little Miss Winnie, Hh Bluemoonovrkntuky, Booms Chuggin Bayou, El Chico Fuentes, Lb Dash N Flash and Lb Lousiana Love.
