Kcross Clairesholm Breaks Maiden In $25,000 WABRA Wyoming Bred Futurity Consolation

Kcross Clairesholm picked an opportune time to break her maiden Saturday, delivering a strong driving finish to capture the $25,000 WABRA Wyoming Bred QH Futurity Consolation at Sweetwater Downs.

The 2-year-old filly completed the 330 yards in :16.718, earning a 103 speed index over a fast racing surface. She prevailed by a head over Eyesa Special Serena, with Er Surfin For Candy finishing 1-3/4 lengths back in third.

Kcross Clairesholm earned $12,500 for the victory, increasing her career bankroll to $19,852 from eight starts. She has also finished second once and third twice.

Skyler Greene trains the sorrel daughter of Rgr Jungle Jock from Vvr Dazzling Corona, by Coronas Velvet, for owner BDS Performance Horses. Wagonhammer Ranch bred the filly in Wyoming, and Victor Felipe Dominguez had the riding assignment.

Eyesa Special Serena earned $6,250 for her runner-up effort for owner-breeder Broken Bones Cattle Company. Jesse Villegas trains the daughter of Eyesa Special Kaycee from Foxxey Lady, by Jess Louisiana Blue. Luis Peralta was aboard.

The filly has made eight career starts, finishing second twice and third five times while earning $14,805.

Er Surfin For Candy collected $2,500 for finishing third. The gelding races for owner-trainer David Newbold and was ridden by Jesus J. Canales. Ross Brown or Elsha McGarry bred the Wyoming-bred son of multiple stakes sire Corona Surfer from Makin Candy, by Maknmoves.

Er Surfin For Candy has now earned $10,430 from seven starts, with two seconds and one third.

The official order behind the top three was Hez Gone Zoomin, Sj Moonin Yawl, Ds Cayenne Corona, and Brindis Por Capitan.

Ds Cayenne Corona originally finished ahead of several rivals but was disqualified and placed seventh after a stewards' inquiry determined the horse bore in and struck rivals. Bds Shes A Badger, Cd Da Foose Is Loose and Topp Shelff were scratched.

The WABRA Wyoming Bred QH Futurity Consolation was restricted to accredited Wyoming-bred 2-year-olds who did not qualify for the Wyoming Bred Futurity final.
