Kas Prietito Continues Stakes Streak In $60,000 B.F. Phillips Jr. Stakes

Kas Prietito and jockey Luis Maldonado drew clear to win the $60,000 B.F. Phillips Jr. Stakes at Lone Star Park on October 3.

The 4-year-old gelding broke sharply and quickly took command before drawing clear late to win by 1 1/4 lengths. He completed the 400 yards in :19.468, earning a 98 speed index over the muddy, sealed track.

Kas Prietito is owned by Fernando Soto and Rolando Soto Jr. and trained by Carlos Sanchez. Bred by Rancho J S, he is sired by Kas Tempting and out of the Azoom mare Marys Corazon. He now has a race record of 17-7-4-1, and the $34,200 winner’s share of the purse boosted his lifetime earnings to $209,806.

He entered the race off a victory in the Hill Country Classic Stakes. Earlier this season, he also won the Willie Hickman Memorial (G2) and Sam Houston Classic Stakes (G2).

Ridden by Francisco Giles, Ruse Dynasty 123 was up early and chased Kas Prietito before weakening late but holding second by a head. She stopped the clock in :19.681 with a 93 speed index.

Ruse Dynasty 123 races for owner Debra Gotovac and trainer Bradley Bolen. Bred by Carolyn Bay, the 5-year-old mare is a $38,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate. She is sired by Fdd Dynasty and out of the Tres Seis mare Tresor 123. She now has a race record of 20-7-3-2 and earnings of $121,282.

She came into the race off a third-place finish in the Dr. Glenn Blodgett Stakes. Still in search of a stakes win, she has also placed third in the Miss Retama Stakes and was a finalist in the Dash For Cash Futurity (G2) and Selma Stakes (G3).

Nine One Won and jockey Oliver Martinez pressed the leaders and made a late bid for second, coming up just a head short of Ruse Dynasty 123. He finished third in :19.709 with a 92 speed index.

Nine One Won races for owner Jimenas Ranch and trainer Raul Ramirez. Bred by Cindi Keeton, the 4-year-old gelding is sired by Tempting Dash and out of the Jody O Toole mare Not My Choice. He now has a race record of 33-7-5-13 and earnings of $262,432.

He entered the race off a victory in the Dr. Glenn Blodgett Stakes. Earlier this season, he placed third in the TQHA Classic Stakes (G2).

Dr Pepper 123, Celena Olena, Mountainaire, Imma Sweet Diva, Kadillaking and Top Cowboy completed the order of finish. Bludz Valiant Policy and I Do Not Recall were scratched.
