Kali K Redeems Herself With A Win In This Year's Leo Beau Dash Stakes

AURORA, CO–SEPTEMBER 28, 2024–After placing third in last year's Leo Beau Dash Stakes, Kali K put forth a commanding win over post-time favorite Mr Dash Fire in the $26,750 race at Arapahoe Park on Saturday.

Jockey Valente Vorrath piloted Kali K from gate-to-wire in her debut start of the season, clocking a 97 speed index in 19.953 seconds. The length victory paid $4.00 to win 1-1 odds. The 400-yard win marks her third consecutive stakes win.

Kali K won the Rocky Mountain Championship Stakes and Pen Pal Stakes in her last outs of her 2023 season. The daughter of One Fabulous Eagle has lit the board 14 of 15 starts with nine career wins and five stakes victories, including the Lucille Rowe Derby and Mile High Futurity.

The Leo Beau Dash Stakes $15,050 payday boosted her earnings to $142,169 for owner Luis Marquez.

Darling Farms bred the five-year-old mare trained by Alexander Orozco in Colorado out of A Secret Episode by No Secrets Here.

Mr Dash Fire was ridden to his second place by Jose Enriquez. The five-year-old gelding conditioned by Hipolito Michel-Valverde has six career wins from 19 starts and $108,207 in earnings.

Felipe Pena bred and owns Mr Dash Fire in Colorado. The stakes-winning son of Dash Kicker is out of Lovin M Leave M by Separatist.

Jess No Secrets, with Cerapio Figueroa in the irons, placed third. The five-year-old son of No Secrets Here has a race record of 5-1-5 from 16 starts and $47,776 in lifetime earnings. Ross Alire bred and owns the Rick Scudder trained gelding out of Jess Breeze by Feature Mr Jess.

Lightning Jess, ridden by Noe Garcia, placed fourth, and Fearless Fortitude, guided by Martin Lazalde, finished the field of five in fifth. Country Rocket Foose and Pyc Fancy Cartel were scratched.
