Jm Famous Wynn delivered a powerful late surge to capture the $50,000 Champagne Lane Stakes at The Downs at Albuquerque on Sunday afternoon. The four-year-old filly overcame a slow start to prevail by a neck in the 350-yard contest for New Mexico-bred fillies and mares.
Ridden by Christian Ramos, Jm Famous Wynn broke a step slowly and raced fifth early before advancing into third and unleashing a strong closing rally to catch pacesetter Happyour at the wire. The 2-1 favorite stopped the clock in 17.147 seconds, earning a 99 speed index over a fast track with a 9-mph crosswind.
Owned by Carlos Soto Carrasco and trained by Tony Sedillo, Jm Famous Wynn was bred in New Mexico by Ventura M Ranch LLC. The sorrel filly is sired by Jm Specialwynn and out of the One Famous Eagle mare Famous Strawberry.
Jm Famous Wynn improved her career record to 17-6-2-1, and the $29,000 winner's share of the purse boosted her total earnings to $227,407. The victory adds to an accomplished 2026 campaign that includes wins in the Vista Distaff Stakes and Grade 2 Lou Wootan and Sydney Valentini Stakes.
Happyour turned in a game effort to finish second under jockey Gabriel Medrano for owners Triple R Racing, Wallace Lynn Landrum and Michael Rivera. Trained by Rodolfo Valles, the three-year-old filly broke sharply and established an early lead, maintaining a half-length advantage late before being caught in the final strides. She finished a neck behind the winner in 17.168 seconds, earning a 98 speed index.
Bred by MJ Farms, Happyour is a $34,500 Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Sale graduate. She is sired by Big Daddy Cartel and out of the Woodbridge mare Anakena. The filly now has a career record of 12-2-5-1 with earnings of $99,402. Earlier this season, she finished fourth in the Grade 3 Sunburst Stakes.
Maka Roon completed the trifecta under jockey James Flores for owner Christian Dominguez-Olivas and trainer Mario Dominguez-Garcia. Despite being bumped at the start, the three-year-old filly remained close to the leaders throughout the race before finishing another neck behind Happyour. She covered the distance in 17.192 seconds, earning a 98 speed index.
Bred by Dirk Jones, Maka Roon is a $10,000 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale graduate. She is sired by Eye Am King and out of the Brookstone Bay mare C Roon. The accomplished stakes performer has compiled a career record of 28-6-3-7 with earnings of $223,444. Her previous stakes victories include the 2025 Champagne Lane Stakes and the 2024 New Mexico Classic Distaff Stakes.
Lovely Josie James, Big Jessie, My First Luv, Heart Breakn Blondie, Merrmaid, Dontmesswiththelady and Easily Bella Csj completed the order of finish.
