Jessaprimadonna Scores Third Stakes Victory This Season In Cup Classic Stakes At Century Downs

ROCKY VIEW COUNTY, AB–SEPTEMBER 21, 2024–First from the gates, Jessaprimadonna kicked clear of the competition for a wire-to-wire victory on Saturday in the $15,637 (U.S.) Cup Classic Stakes at Century Downs.

Jesus Ambricio Medina was aboard Jessaprimadonna for her half-length victory over Krash On Okey and Daniel Tavares. Post-time favorite Flight Club, ridden by J. Botello, followed in a half-length behind for third.

Jessaprimadonna clocked a 91-speed index against a 15 mph headwind on a wet track in 21.931 seconds. The 440-yard first-place finish paid $8.60 to win on 3-1 odds.

Trainer Misael Moreno saddled Jessaprimadonna for owner Cindy Fehr. The six-year-old daughter of One Sweet Jess has 12 wins, six in stakes competition, from 32 starts, and the $8,241 payday boosted her earnings to $120,469.

Jessaprimadonna has won four of her five starts this season, including the Century Mile Princess Stakes and Old Timers Classic Stakes, both of which she also won in 2023.

Leroy Janacek, Jr. bred Jessaprimadonna in Louisiana out of the One Sweet Jess mare Favorite Primadonna, who is a half-sister to champions Miss Racy Jess and One Sweet Racy.

Moreno also trained runner-up Krash On Okey for owner Agatha Fehr. The four-time winner was bred in Mexico by Isaak Fehr and has earned $55,101. The four-year-old gelding is out of Stayin On Okey by Okey Dokey Dale.

Third-place finisher Flight Club has won three of five outs this summer, all in stakes competition, including the Old Timers Classic Stakes, Grande Prairie Bonus Challenge Stakes, and Regional Bank Of America Challenge Final Stakes. In total, he has 16 wins from 24 starts, with 14 of them in stakes races.

Flight Club has earned $187,262 for owner Jerry Stojan, who purchased him for $19,000 in the 2019 Los Alamitos Equine Sale. Dr. Steve Burns bred the six-year-old son of Foose in California out of Separate Flight by Separatist.

Jamez Bond, Timbers Express and Northfork Boss complete the order of finish.
