Jc Canelo turned in a determined performance Saturday night at Lone Star Park, capturing the $50,590 Dash For Cash Juvenile Stakes for 2-year-old Quarter Horses over 400 yards.

Ridden by Victor Manuel Urieta, Jr., the gray gelding broke inward from the rail but quickly established command before drawing clear to score a one-length victory over Cowboys Love Wine. Kissin Country Chick finished another head back in third, with 1¼ lengths separating her from fourth-place finisher Cr Angelas Dynasty.

Jc Canelo covered the distance in 19.643 seconds, earning a 94 speed index over a fast racing surface while running into a 7-mph headwind.

The Dash For Cash Juvenile featured the second 10-fastest qualifiers from the Dash For Cash Futurity trials contested September 19 at Lone Star Park, giving horses that missed qualifying for the Futurity final another opportunity to compete for stakes money.

Owned by Denis I. Moran and trained by Arnold G. Herrera, Jc Canelo collected $12,648 for the victory. The Texas-bred son of champion sire Apollitical Blood is out of Tf Fearless Runaway, by Sir Runaway Dash, and was bred by Jaime Cardenas.

Jc Canelo was offered at the 2025 TQHA Yearling Sale, where he was a $70,000 RNA.

The Juvenile victory improved his career record to seven starts, three wins, no seconds, and one third, with earnings of $62,918. His previous accomplishments include a fourth-place finish in the TQHA Breeders Futurity and qualifying as a finalist for the Louisiana Downs Futurity (G2).

Cowboys Love Wine rallied late to secure second by a head over Kissin Country Chick, earning $10,118 for owner and breeder Pete A. Scarmardo. The sorrel colt is trained by John A. Stinebaugh and was ridden by Ali Rivera.

A son of leading sire Flying Cowboy 123, Cowboys Love Wine is out of Time For Wine, by Mr Jess Perry.

The runner-up performance improved his record to six starts, three wins, and three seconds, with career earnings climbing to $35,818. He previously won his Rainbow Futurity trial and Dash For Cash Futurity trial.

Kissin Country Chick, who stumbled at the start before weakening late, held third under jockey Cordarelton J. Benn to earn $7,588 for owner Shawn Davis.

Trained by Luz Chavira, the 2-year-old filly is a daughter of champion Kiss My Hocks out of Specialscountrychick, by Country Chicks Man. She was bred by Monty McNair and purchased for $37,000 at the 2025 Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

The third-place finish brought her career record to seven starts, two wins, one second, and three thirds, with earnings increasing to $50,654. She previously finished third in the Speedhorse Futurity (G3) and was a finalist in the Heritage Place Juvenile.

Jc Canelo returned $19.40 to win, $10.80 to place, and $6.20 to show as an 8-1 betting choice.

Cr Angelas Dynasty finished fourth, followed by Dont Tell, Sweet Pursuit, Tahiti’s French Kiss, Vp Cowboy Heart, Senor Quintero Lo, and Ali Catt.
