Ima Sexy Man Gets First Career Stakes Win In Jack Robinson Handicap

PLEASANTON, CA–JULY 4, 2024–Six horses were entered in the $20,000 Jack Robinson on Thursday at the Alameda County Fair in memory of the late Jack Robinson, who always gave himself to help others. Ima Sexy Man takes the honor of getting his first stakes victory to the winner's circle, where the family of Jack Robinson met him and his connections.

Epifanio Garcia took the mount aboard Ima Sexy Man on the inside rail and piloted him to a neck victory in :15.260 seconds, clocking a 101 speed index. The heavy favorite's 300-yard victory paid $2.60 to win on 1/5 odds.

Trained by Emilio Guerrero, the first-place finish improved his record to three straight victories for 2024 and eight total from 24 starts. The $11,220 winner's share boosted Ima Sexy Man's lifetime earnings to $107,587.

Even though this is Ima Sexy Man's first stakes win, he is no stranger to stakes competition. He placed second in the PCQHRA Breeders' Derby [G2], Jack Clifford Stakes, Firecracker Futurity and third in the Sgt Pepper Feature Handicap. He was a finalist in the Southern California Derby [G2], Town Policy Stakes Grants Pass Derby Challenge, James S Smith Memorial Handicap, Los Al $2 Million Juvenile and Nuther Brother Handicap.

Ima Sixy Man was bred in Oklahoma by Cavenaugh Quarter Horses LLC, who sold him for $82,000 in the 2021 Los Alamitos Equine Sale to his owner, Boardshorts Stables LLC. The son of Corona Cartel is out of Jess So Sixy by Mr Jess Perry.

Jess Dream, ridden by Hugo Herrera, was runner-up in his second career start. The barely-raced three-year-old broke his maiden at Los Alamitos in his only start in 2023 and hadn't seen an official race since, until today.

The son of First Down Mr Jess has earned $8,825 for owner/trainer/breeder Jose Alfredo Aguila. Jess Dream, bred in California, is out of La Melissa by Dash To La Jolla.

Luis Aburto piloted Cds Its Only Money to his third place finish. The seven-year-old Utah-bred gelding has lit the board ten of 11 starts with two career wins and $19,662 in the bank.

Dale Smith bred the son of Hes Relentless out of Yesterdays Girl by Winners Version. Juan Hernandez owns and trains Cds Its Only Money.

Dollys Talent, Jo Lee and Two Timin Taylor complete the order of finish.
