Im Rip Dominates Rusty Wilson Memorial Futurity at Chippewa Downs Sunday
BELCOURT, ND—JUNE 9, 2024—BHS Futurity finalist Im Rip got his second win in three starts today after posting a 1-1/2 length while setting the fastest qualifying time for the Rusty Wilson Memorial Futurity at Chippewa Downs.
The eight fastest accredited North Dakota Bred 2-year-olds from today's two trials races will return to Chippewa Downs on Sunday, June 23, to vie for the winner's share of a $12,000-added purse going a distance of 300 yards.
Jockey Dakota Wood kept Im Rip under wraps as he crossed the finish line in 16.227 seconds into a 5 mph crosswind, the day's fastest trial time.
Francisco Estrada conditions the son of multiple stakes sire Rip Tide for owner-breeder Tyrell Moody. Im Rip's only loss came in the $58,000 BHS Futurity when he lost his path after being bumped on both sides at the start.
The North Dakota homebred is out of Cowboywannab by Cowboys Cartel.
Ac Giddyupgo broke his maiden in the second trial to post the second-fastest clocking of 16.437 seconds into a 7 mph crosswind. Jockey Ryan Morin had the riding call aboard the Six Figure Sixes gelding for co-owner and trainer Mark Allery.
Allery co-owns the gray gelding out of Dolla Daze by Chicks Regard with John Bercier. Michael Groce is the breeder.
