Hotlipps Hulahan Handy Winner In $26,600 Golden Triangle Charles M. Russell Futurity

GREAT FALLS, MT–JULY 28, 2024–Hotlipps Hulahan handily defeated a field of five 2-year-olds in the $26,600 Golden Triangle Charles M. Russell Futurity at Great Falls Sunday afternoon.

Jockey Jacob Cardenas guided Hotlipps Hulahan to a 1-1/4 length victory while completing the 300 yards in 15.506 seconds, a 101-speed index with the aid of a 10 mph tailwind.

Trainer Jess Matt conditions the daughter of second-crop sire Hawkeye for owners Dan and Kim Lapierre. Bred in Wyoming by Curtis Crenwelge, from the Louisiana Senator mare The Senators Holme, Hotlipps Hulahan has won two of three starts and used the $14,630 Russell winner's purse to increase her earnings to $18,180.

Stablemate Sheza Moonin, a 2-year-old daughter of champion Moonin The Eagle, finished second to earn $5,552. Also owned by Dan and Kim Lapierre and trained by Matt, the filly was ridden by Joe Saenz. Earl Landy Jr and Randy Rodrigue bred Shez Moonin in Wyoming from the Heza Fast Dash mare Shezarunninatcha.

A neck back, Little Painted One under jockey Fernando Gamez finished third to earn $3,458. Tryston Matt trains the Montana homebred daughter Famous Painted One for owner-breeder Harold M. Jeanotte.

Flippinfast and Leo Dash completed the field.
