Hes Pullin Gs Gets The Nod In $36,398 Utah Classic Derby

Hes Pullin Gs prevailed in a tight finish Sunday afternoon to win the $36,398 Utah Classic Derby at Weber Downs.
Ridden by Jesus Valenzuela, Hes Pullin Gs dueled throughout the 400-yard contest before getting the nod by a head over Thought It Deluxe. The gelding stopped the clock in :19.851, earning a 90 speed index. Thought It Deluxe was just a nose ahead of Secret Of The Conn for second.
Hes Pullin Gs is bred, owned and trained by Dabid Romero. The Idaho-bred gelding is sired by Hes Innocent and out of the Dale Badon mare La Choriada.
He improved his record to 13-3-1-4, and the $15,287 winner's share of the purse boosted his lifetime earnings to $30,382. He placed third in the Bitterroot Derby earlier this season.
Second-fastest qualifier Thought It Deluxe crossed the wire in second under jockey Luis Collazo after dueling for the lead and just missing at the wire. A homebred for Jorge Murillo, the gelding is trained by Jose Pulido. He is sired by Eagle Deluxe and out of the Foose mare Thought It Through.
Thought It Deluxe now has a record of 15-2-8-1 with earnings of $27,728. He also placed second in the Oneida County Mixed Breed Derby and Five Livestock Company/Rod Mills Memorial Derby this season.
Secret Of The Conn produced a late effort from the outside to finish third under Jayden Ironeyes. The filly is owned and bred by Larry and Joyce Mower and trained by Joe Hadley. She is sired by Conn Creek and out of the We Have A Secret mare Sheza Vital Secret.
Secret Of The Conn now has a record of 15-2-4-4 with earnings of $26,678. She finished second in last year's Beehive Juvenile and fifth in the Elko Intermountain Futurity.
Flashing Lights finished fourth and was followed by fastest qualifier Rtm Hot Milk, Shamrock S, High Flying Storm, Chicks Favorite Five and Flay Min John. Dabble Dee was scratched.
