Great Falls Dominates Canadian QH Cup Futurity (RG3) at Century Mile

Great Falls turned the $53,443(US) Canadian QH Cup Futurity (RG3) into a runaway Saturday afternoon at Century Mile, drawing away to a commanding 6 1/4-length victory in the 400-yard final.
With Ricardo Moreno aboard, Great Falls broke sharply from the inside and quickly established command before widening her advantage through the stretch. The 2-year-old filly completed the 400 yards in :20.017, earning a 101 speed index over a fast racing surface with a 20-mph tailwind. She earned $24,497(US) from the $74,136(CAN) purse.
Trainer William H. Leech conditions Great Falls for owner Jerry Stojan. Bred in California by Steve D. Burns DVM, the gray daughter of third-crop sire Mpshinning is out of Fall For It, by Separatist. She was a $24,000 purchase at the 2025 Los Alamitos Equine Sale Mixed Sale.
The victory improved Great Falls' career record to two wins from three starts and boosted her earnings to $43,154. She has now won both the Canadian QH Cup Futurity (RG3) and John Deere Century Mile Juvenile Challenge.
Rooters Wagon finished a distant second, holding a head advantage over First Flash The Moon. The gelding earned $11,134(US) for owner and breeder Glenn K. Wills. Buckey A. Stockwell trains Rooters Wagon, who was ridden by O. Amador Hernandez.
Rooters Wagon is by multiple stakes sire Jd Wagon Boss and out of Bitterroot Corona, by Sizzlin Red Corona. The runner-up effort left him with five seconds from five career starts and earnings of $35,349. He has finished second in the Canadian QH Cup Futurity (RG3), Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity and Sale Stakes Futurity.
First Flash The Moon was another three-quarters of a length ahead of the fourth-place finisher while earning $6,858(US) for owner and breeder Ralph E. Danard. Craig Robert Smith trains the daughter of Obsessed With Corona, who was ridden by Miguel Angel Lopez. She is out of Yes Im First, by First Moonflash.
First Flash The Moon improved her career record to five starts with one second, three thirds, and earnings of $15,841. Her stakes placings include the Canadian QH Cup Futurity (RG3) and Sale Stakes Futurity.
Completing the field were Streakin Snow Wagon, Shiny First Down and Babes Wagon. Babes Wagon hopped at the start and was never a factor. M R Flying Corona and The Friendly Fire were scratched by the stewards.
