Graded Stakes Winner A Legacy Of Tales Kicks Clear In $50,000 Two Rivers Stakes on Friday

ALTOONA, IA—SEPTEMBER 27, 2024—Donald J. Friesen's Oklahoma homebred A Legacy Of Tales kicked clear of the field Friday evening while winning the Grade 3 $50,000 Two Rivers Stakes at Prairie Meadows.

"I would like to give thanks to my lord and savior, Jesus Christ," owner-breeder Friesen said in the winner's circle. "He's got a lot of good things going for him. He's been in many graded stakes races, and lately, the best he could do in the last few was fourth. I knew he had a big race in him, and he showed us that he could do it."

Jockey Cristian R. Esqueda guided the 4-year-old son of multiple stakes sire Wagon Tales to a one-length win while completing the 400 yards in 19.539 seconds, a 102-speed index. Trainer Jim Maupin saddled the bay gelding to 10th career win in 24 starts.

"When I saw him break out of the gate, I thought, here he comes," Maupin said.

Bred from the Streakin LaJolla mare Legacys A Streakin, A Legacy Of Tales earned $25,000 to boost his earnings to $308,219.

Miss Kt Perry and One Stolin Eagle dead-heated for second taking home $7,000 each for their efforts.

Also from the Maupin barn, Miss Kt Perry races for owner Leann Burns. Erik Esqueda rode the multiple stakes-placed daughter of Pyc Paint Your Wagon from the Mr Jess Perry mare Kt Perry. Bred in Oklahoma by Randy and Stacy Hill, Miss Kt Perry has banked $96,950 in 19 career starts.

Cruz Villafranco conditions One Stolin Eagle for owner Francisco Lopez. Jorge Torres rode the One Fabulous Eagle gelding out of Stolin Sign by Stoli. Darling Farms bred the $96,479 earner in Oklahoma.
