Go To The Gravel Sires Six Qualifiers to the Iowa Stallion Futurity, Including Top Four
ALTOONA, IA–JULY 28, 2024–16 juveniles ran in two trials Sunday afternoon, vying for a spot in the $79,625 Iowa Stallion Quarter Horse Futurity at Prairie Meadows. Imma Southern Bell set the time to beat in trial one and will be returning to the finals set to run on August 16.
Imma Southern Bell, piloted by Angel Ramirez, took over at second call for a clear length finish over Jb Royal Gravel and rider Miguel Ramirez, who will return to the finals with the third fastest time. The Iowa-bred filly clocked the fastest qualifying time in 18.039 seconds, clocking an 80 speed index.
After breaking her maiden two weeks ago, Imma Southern Bell improved her record to two wins from three starts, and the $6,568 payday increased her bankroll to $19,600.
Trainer Tony Jones owns and bred Imma Southern Bell in Iowa out of Ruidoso Futurity [G2] placed Southernrunaway by Southern Cartel.
Son Of A Jess, ridden by Miguel Josue Ramirez, broke his maiden in 18.215 seconds, clocking the second fastest time of the day in trial two. The Flyover Farms-owned gelding out of Miss Jess Lips V by Mr Jess Perry has $8,978 from two starts. He was bred in Iowa by Jeff State.
Go To The Gravel sired the top four qualifiers and two others, including Jb Royal Gravel, Gravel N Grace, Jascobob, and Gravel Cruiser.
Tony Jones trained four of the ten qualifiers (Imma Southern Bell, Gravel N Grace, Jess Praising Him, and Jascobob), Alex Wessels conditioned three (Son Of A Jess, Jb Royal Gravel, and Gravel Cruiser), and Manuel Mojica Campos trained two (Trs Snot Nose Kid and Ts Fast As My Gto).
