Go O Commando Fastest Qualifier To Gillespie County Fair Derby
FREDRICKSBURG, TX—AUGUST 10, 2024—With a steady drive under jockey Victor Urieta Gillespie County Fair, Jr., Go O Commando raced to a one-length victory while posting the fastest time for the Gillespie County Fair Derby on Sunday at Gillespie County Fairground.
The ten fastest qualifiers, from eight trials contested, will return to the Gillespie County Fairgrounds on Sunday, August 25, to vie for the winner's share of a $80,900 purse going 350 yards.
Conditioned by leading trainer Juan Diaz, Jr., Go O Commando clocked 350 yards in 17.549 seconds, a 97-speed index to establish the fastest qualifying mark.
The multiples takes-placed son of son of multiple stakes sire Capo de Capi races for owner Brant Barley. Out of the Favorite Cartel mare, Black Veil, Go O Commando was bred in Missouri by Barley & Sharp Farm. Second in the Heartland Futurity and third in the Leader Of The Class Futurity, he has earned $990,596.
