Get It Good Bounces Off Last Start To Set Fastest Alberta Stallion Stakes Derby Trial Time
EDMONTON, ALB—AUGUST 10, 2024—Bouncing off a troubled sixth-place effort in his last start in the All Canadian Derby, graded stakes-placed Get It Good easily posted the fastest qualifying time for the Alberta Stallion Stakes Derby this afternoon at Century Mile Racetrack & Casino.
The 10 fastest qualifiers from the two trial races will return to Century Mile on Saturday, August 24, to compete for the winner's share of the $34,242 (CAN) purse at 330 yards.
Away well under jockey Amador Hernandez, Get It Good cruised to a 1-3/4 length victory while stopping the timer in 16.948, equaling a 97-speed index into a 20 mph headwind.
Trainer Buckey A. Stockwell saddled the son of third-crop sire Jd Wagon Boss to his third win in 14 starts for owner WT Ranches, Ltd. Barry and Janice Sather bred the brown gelding in Alberta from the Favorite Cartel mare Status Symbal.
Get It Good was second in the Grade 3 Alberta Bred Futurity, Sale Stakes Futurity, and the Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity last season. He has earned $41,124.
Hez Hott Ur Nott was a half-length winner in the opening trial for owner Dialed In Racing Stable, posting the second-fastest clocking of 17.146 seconds, a 91-speed index into a 20 mph headwind.
Trainer Craig Smith named jockey Marti Alexander to ride the Obsessed With Corona gelding from the Tres Seis mare Im Hott Ur Nott. Bred by Ralph Danard, the stakes-placed gelding has banked $24,282 in 12 starts.
Leading Canadian sire First Timber sired the fifth, ninth, and tenth qualifiers.
