Flyin Chilitos Breaks His Maiden and Clocks Fastest Time To The Texas Hero P&A Futurity [G1]
GRAND PRAIRIE, TX–OCTOBER 18, 2024–Four trials were held on Friday evening for 32 Paint and Appaloosa two-year-olds vying for a spot in the $50,000 added Texas Hero Paint & Appaloosa Futurity [G1] and $20,000 Texas Hero Paint & Appaloosa Juvenile at Lone Star Park.
With jockey David Alvarez in the irons, Flyin Chilitos broke his maiden after winning trial #4 to the Texas Hero Paint & Appaloosa Futurity [G1]. The heavy favorite clocked the fastest qualifying time in 20.108 seconds with an 85 speed index. He won by 3/4-lengths over El Gran Martino, who set the third fastest time. The 400-yard victory paid $6.20 to win on 2-1 odds. Finals for both races are to be run on November 9, 2024.
The $3,600 paycheck from the victory boosted Flyin Chilitos's bankroll to $25,875. The son of leading AQHA/APHA freshman sire Chilitos has placed second in three of his four starts, including the Colors of Houston Futurity [G2] and Alamo P&A Futurity.
Leonel Hernandez saddled Flyin Chilitos for owner Omar Paredes. Claudia Paredes bred the bay gelding in Texas out of Sensational Senator by Louisiana Senator.
The first trial of the evening delivered Knuckle Buster with the second fastest time to the finals. Ridden by Cordarelton Benn, the son of #1 leading APHA sire CRM Livewire clocked an 83 speed index in 20.171 seconds, winning his trial heat by 1 1/2-lengths over Painted Diva.
Knuckle Buster improved his record to two wins from nine starts with $13,951 in the bank. The Dan and Kaye Jones homebred was a finalist in the Speedhorse P&A Futurity [G1] and Pot O Gold Futurity. Leading APHA trainer Matt Whitekiller conditions the Oklahoma-bred gelding out of Shiny Sign by Second Painted Sign.

Texas Hero Paint & Appaloosa Juvenile
The fourth trial produced the two fastest qualifiers for the $20,000 guaranteed Texas Hero Paint & Appaloosa Juvenile, which includes the following ten fastest times after the futurity finalists.
Painted To Be Quick set the time to beat in 20.473 with a fifth-place finish under jockey Bryan Candanosa. The daughter of #2 leading APHA sire Painted Turnpike has two wins and one second from seven starts, including the PSBA American Paint Classic Stakes [G1]. She has $80,426 in lifetime earnings.
Bryan Hawk bred and owns Painted To Be Quick in Oklahoma out of Quick To The Wire by CRM Livewire.
Big Beautiful Bertha, piloted by Cordarelton Benn, clocked the second-fastest time to the Juvenile with a sixth-place finish. The daughter of CRM Livewire has one win from six starts and $7,137 in the bank. Dan and Kaye Jones own and bred the bay filly out of Lindsy Sign by Second Painted Sign.
