EDMONTON, ALB–AUGUST 31, 2024–Flash Me A Corona defeated Rjs Boss in trial one of two, breaking his maiden for the fastest qualifying time to the $100,000 estimated Canada Cup Futurity [RG3] on Saturday at Century Mile.
J. Botello piloted Flash Me A Corona to an impressive 2 1/4-length victory in 20.125 seconds, clocking a 93-speed index. The son of Obsessed With Corona's 400-yeard victory paid $8.70 on 3-1 odds.
Flash Me A Corona has earned $13,091 for owners Janet Patriquin and Ralph Danard. Earlier this season, he placed third in the Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity and Sales Stakes Futurity at Century Mile.
Danard bred the Flash Me A Corona in Alberta out of Look Back Moonflash by First Moonflash.
First Famous Prize won the second trial heat by 1 1/2 lengths over O La Dee Da, breaking her maiden with the second-fastest qualifying time in 20.265 seconds and an 87-speed index. Trainer Buckey Stockwell saddled jockey O. Amador Hernandez aboard the daughter of One Famous Eagle.
First Famous Prize has earned $16,509 for owners Commotion Creek Contracting and WT Ranches, Ltd, who purchased here for $20,000 in this year's Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale. She placed second in the Century Mile Juvenile Challenge Stakes and was a finalist in the Pocatello Downs Spring Classic Futurity earlier in the season.
