Five Bar Phi Dominates $70,000 Terrance Hill Stakes On Prairie Meadows Closing Card

ALTOONA, IA—SEPTEMBER 28, 2024—Multiple stakes winner Five Bar Phi cruised to a 1-1/4 length win in the $70,000 Terrance Hill Stakes on Prairie Meadows closing card Saturday afternoon.

Bouncing off a second-place effort in the Cy-Hawk Stakes in his last start on August 3, jockey Angel Ramirez guided Five Bar Phi to a 19.557 clocking, a 101-speed index with a 6 mph tailwind, over the 400 yards today.

Edward Ross Hardy conditions the son of multiple stakes sire Five Bar Cartel for owner Christine A. Hovey. Also second in the Cyclone Derby at this meet, Five Bar Phi has won seven of 11 career starts. The $31,500 Terrance Hill payday increased his bankroll to $151,050.

Cory Kilgore bred Five Bar Phi from the Feature Mr Jess mare Number One Chorreada.

Second best Dashin Davey Crocket earned $12,600 for owner Kay J. Sage. Trainer Alex Wessels named jockey Miguel Ramirez to ride the Lil Kool Wagon 4-year-old out of Easy Salin Kiss by Dashin Is Easy. David P. Spieker is the breeder.

Robert and Zoe Brink's Duke Of Cartel finished 1-1/4 lengths back to earn $7,000 for third. Tony Dean Jones saddled the Carters Cartel 4-year-old from the Make It Anywhere mare Queen Of Anywhere.
