Favorite Buddy Bc Sets The Time To Beat To The Mike Lipp Wyoming Stallion Breeders Futurity

ROCK SPRINGS, WY–AUGUST 31, 2024–Fifty-one juveniles vied for a spot in the $85,000-estimated Mike Lipp Wyoming Stallion Breeders Futurity from seven trials on Saturday at Sweetwater Downs. Favorite Buddy Bc earned his place in the finals with the fastest time from the last trial, defeating Vvr Let It Ride, who was the second fastest.

Favorite Buddy Bc, piloted by jockey Jesus Canales, would be denied with a wire-to-wire, one-and-1/4-length victory over VVr Let It Ride and Jacob Cardenas. The Utah-bred colt set the time to beat in 15.427 seconds, clocking a 99-speed index. The post-time favorite's 300-yard victory paid $2.60 to win on 5-1 odds.

Favorite Buddy Bc has won four of his five starts this year, including the Wyoming Downs Futurity earlier in August. His only non-win, was a third in the Beehive Futurity at Weber Downs in May. The $2,000 winner's share of the trial purse increased the son of Flay's bankroll $108,671.

Trainer Sergio Canales saddled the Ben McKinney homebred colt out of Classic Pearl Bc by Class Jump.

Runner-up in trial seven, Vvr Let It Ride, has yet to break her maiden. The Jose Rivas Guzman owned-trained filly placed third in the Ron Cook Accredited Wyoming Bred Futurity and has earned $7,269 from five starts.

Mike Lipp bred the daughter of Pistol Packin Perry in Wyoming out of the Country Chicks Man mare Country Girls Charm.

Jockey Jose Olivo piloted Banquet to her length victory in trial six, clocking an 89 speed index in 15.723 seconds. The post-time favorite's victory earned her a spot with the third-fastest time. The daughter of Flay has earned $13,600 for owner-trainer Aldo Pinela. Chuck and Erica Juare bred Banquet in Wyoming out of the Walk Thru Fire mare Bouquet.
