SELMA, TX–AUGUST 17, 2024—Fastest qualifier Osc Is On Fire returned Saturday to score a neck victory over post-time favorite Flyin Chilitos in the $56,675 Colors Of The Alamo Pant & Appaloosa Futurity at Retama Park.

Jockey Nestor Duran got his second stakes win on the card while piloting Osc Is On Fire to an 18.050 clocking for 350 years, an 85-speed index into an 8 mph headwind. It was the fourth career win in seven starts for the multiple stakes siring Quarter Horse stallion Highest Fire.

Leading Quarter Horse trainer Juan Diaz, Jr. saddled the 2-year-old for owner Rogelio Sandoval. Bred in Oklahoma by Wade and Susan Leggett, Osc Is On Fire picked up $21,537 to push his earnings to $67,137. He is out of the Jess Lips mare Cl Oooh Sexy Lips.

Flyin Chilitos mounted a strong finish but was too late under jockey Elezar Hernandez, settling for $9,635. Leonel Hernandez trains the Chilitos gelding for owner Omar Paredes. Claudia Miranda bred Flyin Chilitos in Texas from the Louisiana Senator mare Sensational Senator.

Ima Chili hung late to finish a head back and earn $6,234 for third. Zackery N. Rios trains the Chilitos gelding for owner Darrel Hooper. Oscar Andrade, Jr. rode the Texas-bred from the Executive Menace mare Im Not Hillary. Sarah Huskey is the breeder.

Soy Toxico, Cowboy Heartbreak, Fast N Loose, Mooonpike, Wl Karma, Pt Rose, and Gangster Grip completed the official finish for the futurity field.
