Fastest Qualifier Imma Southern Bell Returns To Win Iowa Stallion QH Futurity at Prairie Meadows
ALTOONA, IA—AUGUST 16, 2024—Imma Southern Bell ran her record to three straight after returning as the fastest qualifier to win the $78,144 Iowa Stallion QH Futurity at Prairie Meadows on Friday.
Jockey Angel Ramirez had the riding call for trainer Tony Dean Jones. Jones is the co-owner-breeder of Imma Southern Bell with Ricky Neff.
The daughter of multiple stakes sire Go To The Gavel covered 350 yards in 17.696 seconds, equaling a 90-speed index into a 7 mph crosswind. She earned $35,946 the three-quarter length win, boosting her earnings to $55,546.
Imma Southern Bell was bred from the Southern Cartel mare Southernrunaway.
Runner-up Trs Snot Nose Kid earned $14,066 for finishing second. Manuel Campos named jockey Luis Maldonado to ride the Just Amazing Jess gelding for owner-breeder Vernon Hammes. Bred from the First Wrangler mare Determinedly, the black gelding is winless in four starts and has earned $17,940.
Son Of A Jess finished three-quarters back to earn $7,814 for third. Making his second start after winning his Iowa Stallion QH Futurity trial in his career debut, Son Of A Jess races for owner Flyover Farms and trainer Alex Wessels. Miguel Ramirez rode the Go To The Gavel gelding out of Miss Jess Lips V by Mr Jess Perry. Jeff Slate is the breeder.
