Famous Speedy One Get First Stakes Victory In The $31,700 NDQHRA Northern Plains Futurity

FARGO, ND–JULY 27, 2024–Famous Speedy One broke sharply from the gates, advancing to the lead at first call and winning the $31,700 NDQHRA Northern Plains Futurity at North Dakota Horse Park on Saturday.

Brian Beetem piloted Famous Speedy One to his neck victory over post-time favorite Six Royal Debits and jockey Rey Hernandez. The son of Famous Painted One clocked a 93 speed index against a 15 mph crosswind in :18.086 seconds. The 350-yard slight upset paid $9.60 to win.

Trained by Robert Don Johnson, Famous Speedy One has lit the board four of five starts with two career wins. Tonight was his first stakes victory, which paid $14,265, increasing his earnings to $24,155. He placed third in the BHS Futurity at Miles City last year.

Darrel Smith and Noreen Cavanaugh bred the second-fastest qualifier from the trials in North Dakota out of Little Free Speed by Free Company. Famous Speedy One is owned by Wilson Racing Stables.

Six Royal Debits, the fastest qualifier from the trials, placed second 3/4-lengths ahead of stablemate Shez Got Rhythm and jockey Dakota Wood. The daughter of Louisiana Jambalaya has one win from three starts and $8,515 in the bank for owner Bill Geditz, Jr. Christopher Tyre bred the sorrel filly in Texas out of Six Debits by Sixes Royal.

Francisco Estrada trains Six Royal Debits and third-place finisher Shez Got Rhythm. Ken Quade bred and owns the Shez Got Rhythm in Minnesota out of Jazzing Jackie by Jazzing Hi. The daughter of Eagle Deluxe has yet to break her maiden with $8,799 in the bank.

Shes Wheelie Smokin, Gf Lady Gisele, One Sweet Fighter, Cash Buys A Corona, and Shesa Okeydokey Jess complete the order of finish.
