Electrifying Cowboy Gets Second-Graded Stakes Victory In Southwest Juvenile Championship

HOBBS, NM–DECEMBER 15, 2024–Graded stakes winner Electrifying Cowboy got up at the wire for his third consecutive win and second graded victory in the $100,000 Southwest Juvenile Championship(G2) Sunday afternoon at Zia Park.

Electrifying Cowboy chased early under jockey Luis Angel Flores-Garcia as he completed the 400 yards in 19.062 seconds, a 105-speed index into a 10 mph headwind. The $56,400 championship winner's purse boosted the 2-year-old colt's earnings total to $320,536.

Ramon Mendoza trains the Flying Cowboy 123 colt for owners Tungsten Racing Partnership and Ronald Sugamosto. Winner of the $386,353 La Fiesta Futurity in his last start, October 20, the colt was also a finalist in the Ruidoso QH Futurity (G1) and West Texas Futurity(G2) earlier this year.

Paragon Farms LLC bred Electrifying Cowboy in Texas from the Corona Cartel mare Corona Carmelita.

The lightly raced Tempt Me Sass finished a neck back to earn $18,800 for second. James J. Gonzales, III, trains the Tempting Dash gelding for owner L/C Enterprise LLC. Speed LLC bred the $50,283 earner in Utah from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Sass Me. Temp Me Sass has a (5) 2-3-0 record.

Dash For Cash Juvenile and Speedhorse Futurity(G3) runner-up Respct improved off the break under jockey Oscar Andrade, Jr., to finish a half-length back for owner Rene Wilson. Clinton Crawford trains the Im A Fancy Pyc colt out of Kitty D Ville by Takin On The Cash. Richard Joneson bred the $85,432 earner in Oklahoma.

Hocksareback, Bone Shaker, Caughtmeatagoodtime, Okie Power, Famous Flyin Cowgirl, Jess Isla, and Candy Going Viral completed the field. Karmalites were scratched.
