Cr Freighttrain Gets First Stakes Win With A Wire-To-Wire Victory In The $80,685 Hawkeye Futurity
ALTOONA, IA–JULY 6, 2024–Fastest qualifier from the trials, Cr Freighttrain returned to the finals on Saturday for another victory in the $80,685 Hawkeye Futurity at Prairie Meadows.
Cr Freighttrain and Flying Finn both broke with a fast start from the gates, but Cr Freighttrain surged at the final call to nail Flying Finn at the wire by a head in :16.957 seconds. Ramiro Garcia guided the post-time favorite to his 350-yard win, clocking an 87 speed index. The victory paid $2.80 to win on 2/5 odds.
The son of Freighttrain B improved his race record to two wins from three starts, and the $36,308 earnings from the futurity boosted his career earnings to $47,317.
Jason Olmstead saddled Cr Freight train for breeders/owners Dick and Curt Tobin. He is out of Lw Evening Lajolla by Streakin La Jolla.
