Cosmic Marfa Gets Second Win, Sets Fastest Time Roche Equine QH Futurity Trials

JEROME ID–JUNE 2, 2024–Cosmic Marfa raced to his second win in as many starts Sunday, posting the fastest qualifying time for the Roche Equine QH Futurity at the Jerome Fair.

The eight fastest qualifiers from three trials races contested over 350 yards will return on Sunday, June 16th, to vie for the winner's share of the $20,000-est. purse.

Cosmic Marfa finished strong under jockey Raphael Romero to win the opening trial by 2-3/4 lengths. His 18.033 clocking into a 10 mph crosswind equaled a 91 speed index.

The Oklahoma-bred son of third-crop sire The Marfa Lights broke his maiden at first asking on May 28 at Pocatello Downs. He has earned $3,570.

Abel Romero owns and trains the bay gelding from the Apollitical Jess mare Halley. Michael and Beth Harper bred the $6,500 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate.
