Catalina Scratch, Trillion Dead Heat In TPBHA Maiden Juvenile

Catalina Scratch and Trillion could not be separated at the wire Friday night, dead-heating for the victory in the $10,800 TPBHA Maiden Juvenile at Lone Star Park.

Catalina Scratch, ridden by Olvin Martinez, and Trillion, with Alejandro Medina aboard, both covered the 300 yards in :15.614, earning an 85 speed index.

Catalina Scratch was bumped at the start before taking the lead and holding on at the wire. Owned by Melissa Dehoyos and trained by Oscar Nunez, the 2-year-old filly was bred by Orlando Gonzalez. She is by Cat Scratch Dash and out of the Class King mare Eyes Truley.

The victory came in just the second career start for Catalina Scratch and increased her earnings to $4,704.

Trillion dueled with Catalina Scratch before getting up to share the victory. The homebred colt races for Guerras Racing Stables and is trained by Gilberto Gonzalez. He is by Cartel Dragon and out of the Painted Turnpike mare Cl Painted Shadows.

Coming off a third-place finish in the Colors of the Alamo Paint & Appaloosa Futurity, Trillion improved his record to 6-1-0-2 with $15,160 in earnings.

A Political Risk finished third under Gilberto Linares for owner Sergio Jimenez and trainer Oscar Nunez. Bred by Brent and Amy Page, the gelding is by PHQ Apollitical Jess and out of the Gitter Dun Turnpike mare Shez Risky Business. He now has a record of 9-0-3-1 with $14,335 in earnings.

Its Spring Break, Cowboys Success, Apolitically Wired, Riohot and Vp Silver Rose completed the order of finish.
