Cardiac Cowboy Holds On In Gridiron Special Allowance At Prairie Meadows

Cardiac Cowboy held off Ab Boogie by a head Saturday evening to win the Gridiron Special Allowance, the opening race on the Prairie Meadows card.

Sent off as the 2-5 favorite, Cardiac Cowboy broke sharply under jockey Armando Alvidrez and completed the 110 yards in 07.128. The 5-year-old gelding collected $10,410 from the $19,235 available purse.

Leading trainer Jason Olmstead conditions Cardiac Cowboy for owners Tom Smith, Lou Ann Smith, and Amber Olmstead. Bred in Oklahoma by Jo Rice, the brown gelding is by leading sire Flying Cowboy 123 and out of Southard Cartel, by Carters Cartel.

Cardiac Cowboy has won 14 of 34 career starts and earned $491,689.

Ab Boogie finished second, with Canelosecret another length back in third. Apollitical Dashing, Takin Too Long, and Elunicodecandy completed the order of finish. Lovin M Dashin M was scratched.
